3rd Successful Preliminary Working Gundog Certificate
for Dove Valley.
The club held its third preliminary stage of the Working Gundog Certificate
this month at Carrwood Farm in Cromford, by kind permission of Mr and
Mrs Sturt.
Mr John McKay and Mr Keith Onions were the assessors.
There were 10 Spaniels and two labradors entered and all were thoroughly
assessed on Control, Hunting (Spaniels) Retrieving - seen, blind, over
an obstacle and from water, Obedience and Temperament.
The assessors were very generous with their time and patience, giving
encouragement to all. For several entrants it was their first foray into
the world of working gundogs and even if they were not successful, they
were encouraged to continue working with their dogs now that they had
a better idea of what was expected.
It was a really enjoyable day, thank you to all who entered and all my
helpers:
Peter the gun, who never missed a thing all day!, Rachel and Andrew with
their Labradors providing the distractions and to Alison and Steve for
dummy throwing, but most of all the assessors who really made the day.
Thank you.
