8th May 2022 - Open AV Retriever Working Test

 

What started off as quite a chilly morning developed into a lovely warm and sunny afternoon with minimal breeze. 

 

The day consisted of 6 tests comprised of 3 in the morning followed by 3 in the afternoon.  A brief summary of each test is as follows:

 

TEST 1 

A mark to shot over water into light cover. Followed by a blind on the angle at approximately 2 o’clock, again over the water in light cover. 

 

TEST 2 

A double mark to shot either side of an oak tree. 

 

TEST 3

A double mark to shot. This proved very challenging for all as the long distance covered provided the second mark as a memory, over rolling terrain. The dogs moved out of sight during this retrieve which made handling a little tricker. 

 

TEST 4

A blind retrieve on the angle, over water, with a shot as distraction. 

 

TEST 5

A mark to shot and a blind. The blind being requested first. 

 

TEST 6

A picking up exercise with 2 blinds to shot. The 2 dummies were in different areas at an angle 11 o’clock and 2 o’clock.
