The day started with a hard frost, bright sunshine and blue skies. Judges, guns and all helpers enjoyed a warm breakfast in the wonderful shoot room at Bagots Park, with competitors creeping in to warm themselves by the fire before starting the Trial.

Our wonderful Judges Geoff Devine Jones and John Ayre led the way with Sam Sayce in the Gun Bus and all competitors and dogs to some game cover, bramble, woodland and white grass where they were all well tested and able to prove themselves to the judges.

Many thanks must be given to the army of helpers. Dove Valley seem to be blessed with people wanting to help. Helen Fern, Maria Kavanagh, Pippa Lodge, Laura Poole, Tim Weston, Steph Greenhalgh.

The

’s Jon Fern, Paul Woodcock, Paul Stevens, Nigel Matthewman did a fabulous job, ensuring there was plenty for the dogs to do. Club Chairman had the opportunity to pick any stray birds, thank you Bob Seaman. Huge grateful thanks to Julia Bott, the most fabulous supporter of Dove Valley and all our events, who stood as Chief Steward for the day.

After a very busy morning, the judges returned, full of compliments for all the dogs, the ground, the Keeper and all the helpers. After a four dog run off, of which it was a very close call, nine awards were made.
