Dove Valley’s 171st Field Trial, Open 16 Dog Cocker Spaniel 28/11/2025
By kind permission of Dave Dale & Sam Sayce
Judges Andy Whitehouse and Martin Deacon
Dove Valley held their first ever Open Qualifying Cocker Spaniel Trial in the 2010/2011 season. This was won by Ben Randall and his very special dog Heolybwlch Fatty, who he then went on to win back to back Championships, that year and 2012.
Today (28th November 2025) at Dove Valley’s 171st Field Trial, Open 16 Dog Cocker Spaniel Trial, Ben took the win with Beggarbush Kwik (Fattys granddaughter) at Bagots Park.
for a repeat for him later this year at the Champs.
A slightly stressful start to the day, with a change of Judge at 5.30am, (John, we hope you are recovering well), many thanks to Martin Deacon for stepping in at the very last minute to ensure the Trial went ahead.
Many thanks to Sam Sayce from Bagots Park who as ever looked after us all magnificently and gave all the dogs and handlers the best opportunity to be tested. A full card and a great contingent of helpers, the Shoot Room at Bagots Park was buzzing with excitement for a great day. Many thanks to our judges Andy Whitehouse and Martin Deacon, a hoard of helpers Tim Weston, Rob Lawson, Heather Clarke, Hayley Clarkson, Sophie Fern, Paul Watson, Laura Poole; Committee Members Helen Fern, Jon Fern, Natalie Fowler; our fabulous guns Paul Woodcock, Graham Burton, Paul Stevens, Philip Walton and our fabulous Chief Steward Julia Bott who kept the day
running smoothly and ensured everyone was safely back in the shoot room before the hail storm!!
